Welcome to our 2002 Outback Steakhouse Empire Challenge Web
Site.
The game will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation,
the Gunnar H. Esiason Endowment Fund at Hofstra University and youth football programs in the New York metro area. The Outback
Steakhouse Empire Challenge features the finest high school senior players from Long Island and New York City. It is the only event of its kind in New York.
New York has always been a special place for me. As a youth, I was proud to play in the
Police Athletic League's Long Island North-South All-Star football game. It was one of the most memorable times of my life. Throughout my football career, I dreamed of contributing back to the community. It is the game of football which has afforded me that opportunity.
I would like to thank the participants, volunteers and sponsors who have worked
diligently to make this event possible- especially Pete Blieberg, Outback Steakhouse, Newsday,
JPMorganChase, Canon, NFL Youth Development, New York Jets, and Hofstra University.
Last
year NYC beat Long Island 17-10 to tie the series at 2 wins
each. This year the game will be held on July 3, 2002.
It once again promises to be an exciting evening of New York
football at it's best. I hope to see you there and may the best team win!
Sincerely,
