Ted Cottrell
Defensive Coordinator / Assistant Head Coach
New York Jets
Cottrell joined the Jets as the defensive coordinator in January 2001
after spending the previous six seasons with the Buffalo Bills
(1995-2000).
In Cottrell's first year with the Jets, his defensive unit finished
the 2001 season tied for second in the NFL in total take-aways. This
same defensive troop did not allow the Miami Dolphins to score on
their home turf-the first time a visiting opponent shut out the
Dolphins at home since 1970.
Cottrell and the New York Jets look forward to a beefed up defense for
the 2003 season. The Jets selected University of Kentucky DT Dewayne
Robertson with the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft this past
April.
