Boomer Receives Jackie Robinson Humanitarian Award
The United States Sports Academy has named Boomer Esiason as this
years recipient of the Jackie Robinson Humanitarian Award. This award
is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated a concern
for mankind. Boomer was selected for his dedication, compassion and
dignity that characterizes the promotion of human welfare and social
reform as demonstrated by his commitment to cystic fibrosis and those
afflicted by the disease.
The Academys president and C.E.O., Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich,
presented the award to Boomer on April 4, 2026 at the Boomer Esiason
Foundations office in Garden City Park, N.Y.
The award is named after Jackie Robinson, the first man to break
the color barrier in Major League Baseball. His widow, Rachel, created
the Jackie Robinson Foundation in 1973 to provide educational and
leadership opportunities for minority students nationwide and has lent
his name to the Academys Award of Sport for recognition of
humanitarian services by sport luminaries.
