Welcome to our 2001 Outback Empire Challenge web site. The game will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation, The Gunnar H. Esiason Endowment Funda at Hofstra and youth football programs in the New York metro area. The Outback Empire Challenge features the finest high school senior players from Long Island and New York City. It is the only event of its kind in New York.

New York has always been a special place for me. As a youth, I was proud to play in the PAL's Long Island North-South All-Star football game. It was one of the most memorable times of my life. Throughout my football career, I dreamed of contributing back to the community. It is the game of football which has afforded me that opportunity.

I would like to thank the participants, volunteers and sponsors who have worked deligently to make this event possible, especially Pete Blieberg, Outback Steakhouse, Newsday, Chase Manhattan Bank, Canon, USA, Iomega, NFL's Youth Football Program, The New York Jets, and Hofstra University.

This year the game will be held on June 30, 2001, I hope to see you there and may the best team win!

Sincerely,

Boomer Esiason
